I don’t now if this is how your friend felt, but I would not want a child of mine to see me go through cancer. I would want them to be able to remember before my decline. My father took care of his mother as she died from cancer in 1948, and it was brutal. The horror of it never left him. Never.
Also, knowing Duke it was good you stepped up, because she was going to need someone there. I have taken my mom for multiple procedures, and they wouldn’t even consider starting on a minor hand surgery until I was in the building and checked in as her ride home.
