I have a cousin who put a child up for adoption in April of 1969, and I am persona non grata in the family because when my DNA matched to one of my cousin’s biological grandchildren, I told him the truth.

This experience is part of what has led me to believe that knowing who you are is a civil right, and if you are still seeking to learn where you came from, you might want to look at getting your DNA tested. In addition to finding the biological grandson of my first cousin, I’ve also got some other mysteries of my own to sort out, and I have learned that I don’t know who all of my family is.
