This is where I found FKA Twigs approach to be very interesting. She did not pursue criminal charges against Shia LaBoeuf (which have a very high standard of proof--beyond a reasonable doubt), and she instead chose a civil suit which requires only a preponderance of the evidence.

Additionally (and perhaps even more important), she got to tell her story first, and her story then become the prevailing narrative.
